Activities in Oberstdorf and surroundings
In summer, there are numerous opportunities in the magnificent Allgäu with its breathtaking mountain panorama and the verdant meadows. You can:
- Hiking around Oberstdorf. We offer a 200 kilometers long and well-developed walking and hiking network. In addition, the popular European hiking trail E5 starts here, which leads across the Alps to Italy.
- Climbing in the mountains or if it rains, you do not have to do without climbing. But visit the indoor climbing facility in the ice sports center Oberstdorf with a climbing area of 270 sqm and 15 m height.
- Cycling on unforgettable, varied and different bike rides depending on the level
- Swimming in the Beautiful mountain lakes or outdoor pools
- Golf at Germanys most southest course at the Golf Club Oberstdorf e. V., which offers players a challenging golfing experience with narrow fairways and manicured roughs at an altitude of 900 meters.

In winter, the largest ski arena in Germany is right outside the door. There are numerous opportunities for winter sports enthusiasts:
- 130 km of different slopes for skiers and snowboarders
- 85 km of cross-country trails in all degrees of difficulty are groomed around Oberstdorf
- Snowshoeing or Tobogganing
- Fun park at the Fellhorn

Events
Here in the Allgäu many traditions are cultivated and celebrated:
- the Viehscheid a very special tradition in the Allgäu, which is known far beyond the borders, attracts thousands of interested people every year in September. The decorated with wreaths and bells animals are driven from the mountain pastures into the valley. Afterwards we celebrate in the marquee.
- Opening of the Four-Hills-Tournament in ski Jumping in end of December
- the Wilde Männle Dance, another attraction since ancient times in Oberstdorf, which takes place every 5 years.
- Oberstdorfer Musiksommer for music lovers an absolute must with excellent program

Ausflüge
In and around Oberstdorf, there is plenty for all ages to experience:
- The Heimat-Museum in an old farmhouse in Oberstdorf or in Gerstruben
- the Breitachklamm, a nature spectacle of a special kind. It is the deepest and also one of the most beautiful rock gorges in Central Europe.
- Of course, also the nearby royal palaces Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau invite you.
